What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
It is always a wise idea to know a basic understanding of the law. Some issues are more complex and it is always a good idea to consult with an attorney who is knowledgeable in the area of family law.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I always will review any papers the client may have drafted.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
I have acted as a “coach” to assist clients who have chosen to represent themselves or those who have sought a second opinion in addition to their current counsel. Sometimes clients simply have questions before a divorce is even filed. I enjoy guiding them in the right direction and look forward to helping them in any way that I can.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
I have always wanted to help others and advocate/fight hard for their rights.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
Through my ongoing involvement in Legal Education, writing, and litigating cases, I keep constantly abreast of the laws which are ever changing. I enjoy working one on one with individual clients who need my help.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
I have always had a passion for the law in the field of Family Law.
What do you like best about your career?
The satisfaction I get in being able to resolve issues and help clients overcome the toughest period of many of their lives.
